CONSTITUTION (AMENDMENT No. 4) ACT, 1927
AN ACT TO AMEND THE CONSTITUTION BY EXTENDING THE MAXIMUM DURATION OF DÁIL EIREANN FROM FOUR YEARS TO SIX YEARS. [4th March, 1927.]
BE IT ENACTED BY THE OIREACHTAS OF SAORSTÁT EIREANN AS FOLLOWS:—
1. Extension of duration of Dáil Eireann
The Constitution shall be and is hereby amended by the deletion from Article 28 thereof of the words “four years” and the insertion in that Article of the words “six years or such shorter period as may be fixed by legislation” in lieu of the said words so deleted.
2. Short title and commencement
(1) This Act may be cited as the Constitution (Amendment No. 4) Act, 1927.
(2) This Act shall come into operation immediately after the dissolution of the Oireachtas occurring next after the passing of this Act.
